Meeting Minutes(commentary reported following agenda items):

 

1. Policy issues:

®    Enrollment discussed

®    Bill for school lunch application info sharing with Medicaid, to be implemented in 2006 school year

®    New application- improved formatting, language, importance of tracking origin of application is located on first line of LaCHIP app.

®    Improved LaCHIP web homepage - provider locator tool, still difficulty finding a dentist

®    Renewals - hotline service, off cycle renewals

®    LaMOMS - it was mentioned that the confirmation of pregnancy is no longer needed to be certified for LaMOMS, but often providers will not see patients without may cause problems for women whose expedited approvals, dental coverage

®    Strategic Enrollment Unit - for special processing of non-English apps, it was discussed that clients are getting notifications in English and cannot cooperative because of language difficulties,

®    PIC update: testing of processes, and possible spread statewide

 

2. Work plan Ideas:

®    Hispanic community: soccer leagues, churches

®    Caregivers such as grandparents

®    JJPL; OYD, Re-entry programs, YEP, FINS, Youth Challenge

®    Girls & Boys clubs, summer programs, NORD

®    Process Improvement Collaborative (CKF & Medicaid)

®    Engaging businesses to include LaCHIP & LaMOMS info

3. News & events:

®    Governors’ Health Reform Panel Meeting, Thursday, June 30, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. New Orleans Marriott 

®    Forum on Minority Health Care Issues, DOI & LA Health Care Commission sponsored forum with national speakers, July 14, 9-11am, 1702 N.3^rd St, Baton Rouge

®    Back-to-School Campaign begins August 1, national kick-off press event 8/2, action kits available & other materials, photo bank, www.coveringkids.org

®    CKF State Coalition Meeting & National Program Office Site Visit – Friday August 12, 10-2pm, at the Burden Plantation in Baton Rouge, see the Louisiana CKF website for details, www.lacoveringkids.org

®    Solutions to Poverty Summit Council Network: discussion about DSS ongoing efforts to keep regional coalitions engaged in solutions to poverty dialogues, passed out flyers for upcoming meetings
