MEDICAID NURSE HOTLINE
1-866-529-1681

All CommunityCARE patients (LaCHIP, LaMOMS, and other Medicaid recipients) can now get 24-hour medical advice through a new hotline service that began January 1, 2005 .

The hotline will provide advice when a doctor is unavailable such as late night. This service is sponsored by the Department of Health & Hospitals(DHH). The DHH Secretary, Dr. Fred Cerise has expressed hope that this will help clients avoid unnecessary trips to the emergency room, if their questions can be answered over the phone.

Good News for Pregnant Women

Pregnant women can qualify for coverage for their pregnancy through the program called LaMOMS. The income eligibility is the same as for LaCHIP, see above guide.

Proper pre-natal care is critical to providing a healthy start in life for babies. Eligible women will receive coverage throughout their pregnancy and for 60 days after delivery. Health care can also be provided while an expecting mom waits for their eligibility to be decided. Applying for the program is easy. You can pick up an application at any local Medicaid office or Medicaid Application Center or call toll free for more information or an application 1-888-342-6207.
Or you can
download the application

and print it out.
